TOWN OF THE PAS PRESS RELEASE – PAPER MILL CLOSURE
The announcement of the closure of the paper mill by Tolko Industries is difficult news for the Town of The Pas. For the municipal government, it has an immediate impact to the stability of the economy of the Town. Aside from the loss of direct property tax revenue, there is a larger concern of the estimated $25 million of payroll that is lost from our community and the region.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the Board of Revision of The Town of The Pas will sit in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 81 Edwards Avenue, on November 14, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. to hear applications for revision to the General Assessment Rolls of The Town of The Pas for the year 2017. The 2017 Assessment Rolls have been delivered to The Town of The Pas Municipal Building and are open for public inspection Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Any person who believes that his or her property’s assessment ought to be revised may apply in accordance with Section 42 and 43 of The Municipal Assessment Act, as noted hereunder;

The Assessment Rolls are open for public inspection Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Town of The Pas Municipal Building, 81 Edwards Avenue, The Pas, MB.
Starting October 3rd Ecofitt technicians will be in The Pas to begin free installation of Water and Energy Saver kits. These kits help lower water & energy usage to increase savings on utility bills.
The free kits include: low-flow shower head(s), faucet aerators, hot water heater pipe insulation, and a refrigerator/freezer thermometer.

They will also be implementing the Power Smart Shops and Free Low-Flow Spray Valve Programs. With the Power Smart Shops program any small, independent business or non-profit organization (including churches, legions, etc.) less than 15,000 sq. ft. qualifies for free water & energy saving measures and a free lighting assessment, along with other incentives. The Low-Flow Spray Valve Program provides free energy efficient spray valves with free installation for restaurants or other food service businesses.
